This is the handsome IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Spitfire replica. Tough but not overstated and certainly toolish but with a vintage flair, the Spitfire collection was recently overhauled and I'd wager that this new chronograph, which is available in steel or bronze, manages to offer IWC's well-established Flieger aesthetic while being distinctive enough to stand apart as an expression of their form that attempts to capture a certain old-world charm.
The Spitfire's manufacture movement is hidden under a solid case back. The screw-in case back is decorated with a Spitfire plane.

The Case
Seen here in IWC Pilot's Watch replica IW387901 with a steel case and a black dial, the new Spitfire Chronograph is 41mm wide, 15.3mm thick, and 51.5mm lug to lug. Powered by an IWC-made automatic chronograph movement, the Spitfire Chrono has a screw-down crown, a domed and anti-reflective sapphire crystal, 20mm lugs, and water resistance to 6 bar (60m/192ft). This reference comes on an excellent green textile strap, but the design is so versatile that it would likely work on any strap you throw at it.The Dial
The dial of the IWC Spitfire stainless steel watch fake is designed as a proper pilot's instrument. Presented with a vintage aura, the watch has a series of elements that betrays the modern origin. The time is displayed with the help of skeletonised rhodium-plated hands, filled with powerful luminescent. The low light capabilities are well exemplified in the video above. The Roman hour numerals are printed with white ink. 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock are enhanced with additional indexes, painted with an aged looking Superluminova. The called faux-patina. The black background offers a strong contrast. The triangle with two dots is inspired by the cockpit instrumentation. This helps for rapid recognition of the position of the time instrument and its hands.Caseback
The Spitfire aeroplanes were powered by Rolls Royce engines. Not the case of our reviwed IWC Spitfire watch replica. However, the watch is powered by another interesting engine - the Calibre IWC 69380. The manufacture calibre is part of the 96000 family, introduced in 2016. The movement is used in the IWC Ingenieur and in the IWC Portugieser. The calibre IWC 69380 is an automatic wound movement with a power reserve of 46hours. The balance wheel operates at the modern standard of 4Hz. An interesting feature is the soft-iron inner case, that protects the movement against the magnetic fields. The Spitfire's manufacture movement is hidden under a solid case back. The screw-in case back is decorated with a Spitfire plane.
